Jayne Kennedy Overton Returns to Las Vegas as the Special SURPRISE GUEST to Present to Lamonte McLem
After being away from Las Vegas for 20 years, Jayne finally returns for ONE Special Purpose... The First Annual DREAM AWARDS were launched at the beautiful Suncoast Hotel and Casino along with a plethora of legendary historical tributes to many who have paved the way for African American entertainers to be successful on the Las Vegas calendars.
Mable Buckner's dream finally came true. But the highlight of the evening was the special tribute to Lamonte McLemore, the founder of the 5th Dimension, also known around the world for his legendary prowess as a photographer.
Jayne met Lamonte when she first came to Los Angeles at the age of 19. They have been close ever since. Lamonte is quick to tell anyone that Jayne was his favorite model so Mable Buckner decided it should be Jayne to present his award. And somehow with an incredible list of participants, Mable was actually successful in keeping it a secret. Lamonte had no idea until he and his wife Mieko walked into the showroom and his seat was right next to Jayne. Joining Jayne was Lamonte's best friend Harry Elston from the Friends of Distinction, and longtime friends Kathleen Bradley-Redd from the movie Fridays and Robert DeBlanc
The Dream Awards will surely continue as the Sunday evening guests left the room completely entertained wiht speckled performances of The Manhattans, The Checkmates, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Lady S, and so many many more. Congratulations on fulfilliing your DREAM
