ZAIRE OLLYEA OVERTON

Zaire Overton is currently employed by RAND Corporation, serving as Administrative Assistant IV for Special Projects in the President's Office, and for the Center to Advance Racial Equity and Inclusion.

Previously a Policy Staff Assistant for the County of Los Angeles’ Board of Supervisors, Zaire served the constituency of Los Angeles under Supervisor Sheila Kuehl for three years, aiding in the implementation of policy items in the following areas: Homelessness and Housing, Children and Family Welfare, Education, Budget, Sanitation, Parks and Recreations, Public Social Services, and Workforce Development.

Prior to joining Supervisor Kuehl’s Office, Zaire studied abroad in Brazil; more specifically in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador da Bahia and São Paulo. She has also been expanding upon her international cultural experiences by traveling to additional countries such as England, France, and Argentina.

She is the co-founder of Career Opportunities for International Relations (COIR), an annual Human Resources recruiting event for young professionals in the field hosted by the U. S. Department of State.

In her spare time, Zaire also voluntarily serves as assistant/coordinator to Consul General of Senegal, Mame Toucouleur Mbaye, President of the Los Angeles Consular Corps Spouses Association.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and a true product of the West Coast, Zaire graduated from the University of Southern California in 2017. She completed her degree in International Relations, with two concentrations: 1.) International Politics & Security Studies and 2.) Culture, Gender & Global Society. Before her studies concluded, she also initiated the creation of a minor in Brazilian Cultural Studies, and became the first student at the university to ever obtain that accolade. She is a native English speaker, while being fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish.
