LA City Council unanimously votes to approve the LA24 bid to the International Olympic Committee; Th

Zaire Overton joined her fellow interns at the LA24 Foundation for the presentation. And after 65 olympic and paralympic medalists from a range of decades, and representatives from the business community along with the LA84 Foundaiton's Anita deFrantz made their voices heard, Jayne Kennedy Overton closed the presentation stressing the significance of the impact of the youth of LA for generations to come "I have no dog in this fight. I am not an athlete or a business owner. I am here because I love how sports helps to build leadership and character. Something we desperately need in this country, in these times. It provides the inspiration to achieve and excel". It was an historic event as the council chambers were filled to the brim with world class athletes all pitching their case that Los Angeles is the only place for the 24 Olympics. When it came time to vote the members with great enthusiasm voiced their "aye" vote. A press conference followed immediately headed by event coordinator Janet Evans and Michael Johnson. On hand was City Council President Herb Wesson, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA24 President Casey Wasserman... and a throng of happy olympians.
