DCPS Study Abroad: 11th Grade Peru, 2016
11th graders from DC Public Schools travel from Washington DC to Lima to Machu Picchu, where they will be immersed in the land and culture of Peru. Connect with local communities in the Sacred Valley and learn how they preserve history, art and their heritage. For the student's community service project at Yachay Wasi school in Ollantaytambo, they build mud walls for the garden and refurbish furniture for the kindergarden school.
Yachay Wasi, we'll never forget you!!!!!! Thank you Guillermina, Jose, Abril y Lorenzo for letting us into your home and school. I've had the best time and I cannot wait to return! We're standing here with one of the main projects our students completed: designing and painting the school van!
